![]() To keep library users up-to-date all year, the library will create a library news blog. Working with the school district, the library will involve students in preparing promotional materials in Spanish and various Asian languages to post in key neighborhood locations such as restaurants, fitness clubs and laundromats.Īctivity will culminate during National Library Week with an open house including tours, exhibits, lectures and training. Library staff will speak at local community locations. Multilingual exhibits and signs will also be created and displayed inside and outside the library to promote particular services and lists of library resources will be distributed at local businesses, grocery stores, doctors’ offices and schools. In addition, the library will develop bookmarks, brochures, newsletters, press releases and paid newspaper advertisements. ![]() It will also be added to the library’s Web site. The video will be distributed and shown in locations throughout the community, such as waiting rooms, senior centers, schools, retirement homes, local hospitals, homeschooling meetings, and civic association and neighborhood meetings. The library’s main tactic will be the production of a "virtual library tour" video, emphasizing its range of resources. Services that will be promoted include tutoring for non-English-speakers, home delivery, literacy resources, large print books, foreign language material, non-print collections and computer training. The Haverford Township Free Library will collaborate with the local school district, the local senior center and local civic associations to build public awareness about the variety of free services available for community members of all ages. This year, libraries were asked to develop a proposal using the National Library Week theme, "Something for everyone your library®." ![]() The $5,000 grant, sponsored by Scholastic Library Publishing and administered by the American Library Association (ALA) Public Awareness Committee, is awarded annually for the best public awareness campaign in support of National Library Week (April 10-16, 2005).
